Some locations never go out of style, and Boston Common is one of them.
When couples ask me for a location that feels uniquely Boston, this is always one of my first recommendations. The combination of historic architecture, charming streets, and beautiful green spaces creates the perfect setting for a session that feels both elegant and timeless.
For this engagement session, we started in Boston Common before making our way through the heart of Beacon Hill. One of my favorite things about photographing in this area is how every few steps bring a completely different backdrop. From tree-lined pathways and historic iron fences to brick sidewalks and iconic brownstones, there is beauty around every corner.
One of the highlights of this session was spending time around the Beacon Hill Monument. Surrounded by historic architecture and tucked away from the busy city streets, it offered the perfect setting for romantic portraits. The stone details, classic Boston character, and quiet atmosphere made it feel as though time had slowed down for a moment.
Beacon Hill monument
As we continued exploring Beacon Hill, we wandered through some of the neighborhood’s most picturesque streets. The historic homes, cobblestone roads, and soft evening light created a backdrop that felt effortlessly romantic. These are the kinds of locations that don’t need much direction. They simply allow couples to be present with each other while the city provides the story.
What I loved most about this session wasn’t just the scenery, it was the way these two interacted with one another. The laughter, the quiet moments, and the way they naturally settled into each other’s presence made every photograph feel genuine and meaningful.
Years from now, I hope these images bring them back to this season of life. Not just to what Boston looked like that day, but to how they felt walking hand in hand through one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city.
If you’re planning an engagement session and love historic architecture, timeless charm, and a location that feels unmistakably Boston, Boston Common and Beacon Hill are truly hard to beat.
